Black & White Ideas

During brainstorming, we thought a lot about the colour scheme of our album cover. An obvious choice seemed to be black and white; it looks sophisticated and somewhat vintage. I decided to look at existing products in the market to see how black and white has been used, and the genre range which it is used for.

These are examples from the R&B/Pop genre, with hugely sucessful American susperstars Beyone, Lady Gaga and Rihanna using black and white for their main album colours. This is a popoular theme amongst very famous singers.

As well as this, a lot of Indie/Rock artists have used the same theme for their album, but it portrays an entirely different look. This makes me feel that it is the way the image is positioned and designed that sets the tone. It also tells me that black and white as a theme is very flexible, and can be adapted to suit any genre. It is something our group will definately consider.
